This is a picture of my grandparents from the 50s heading up from Shenandoah Valley in Virginia to Acadia National Park in Maine for one of the rare vacations they enjoyed after retirement as Virginia farmers.
Pictured in the tourism sign are a Rhode Island Red, a popular breed of chicken and an Anchor, used as a symbol of the area since the Europeans came in the 1600s:
