If you're heading to Peru you'll want to browse Barbara's excellent blog An American in Lima
She covers everything from culture to food to attractions and as is often the case provides the kind of insights for travel that are lacking in the tourism brochures. You can also interact with Barbara via Twitter

This has been a great help, as i am planning to travel to Peru next month, appreciate the help.
Peru is the one of the most visited destination. I visited there last year. It was an unforgetable tour.
I agree with biztech, I also traveled to Peru last year and went very well. I knew many places and the history of his people. With this information you provide are helping to many people that want to travel to this country. But also I want to recommend you to hire a travel agency; I did and hired TurPeru that arranged all my tours. I recommend you its website is http://www.turperu.com.pe/
Thanks, Joe, for the kind comments about my blog. I love living in Peru and writing about this amazing, sometimes infuriating country. Tourism declined in Peru during the years of Shining Path terrorism, but since the early 2000s things have been relatively safe for tourists, and the country has experienced a boom, both in tourism and in business.
It's been a pleasure seeing so many foreigners discover the wonders of this very ancient land.
Thank you for providing this website, I've been looking for some nice guide as I'll be visiting Peru next week on behalf of my office.
Cheers
